About Me

My photo
I married my best friend Drew on August 11, 2007. Together, we have two dogs, two fish, a cat, and one big renovation. But our biggest love is raising our two beautiful daughters, Hadley and Piper. Life's busy and quite an adventure!

Five Months

Piper is five months already, and time is flying!  She wants to crawl so bad.  I think she'll be a much happier baby when she can really move.

Four Months

Piper turned four months on February 17th and also had her four month check up.  She's about 60th percentiles for both height and weight.  And for head size....95th percentile.  We grow 'em with big noggins in these parts!

Jammies

There are some days that you just don't want to get dressed.  Today was one of those days.  I'll be honest.  We were in our jammies today.  All day.  No shame.  It's one of my last days home with the girls before I have to go back to work from maternity leave.  I'm lucky that I only have to go back part time, but I'll miss being home with them everyday.  But, I'm also looking forward to seeing all my coworkers again too.  Maybe I'll try to be a productive member of society once more, instead of a scrub who hangs out all day in jammies....

So...what do you do when it's freezing cold outside?  You stay inside and put scribbled on sticky notes "art" on mom's freshly-washed windows.  Don't want mom to get bored either.

Piper has discovered the jumper, and I'm thrilled that she likes it.  Hands free for 15 minute stretches = awesome.

Two Months

Piper is two months now and growing like a weed.  She just had her two month appointment and weighed 12.8 lbs, putting her in the 87th percentile for weight and 76th for height.  Healthy girl :)  She also continues to be colicky.  Her pediatrician says we can expect it to continue until she's three months.    Don't worry doc, we got this.  We're pros.  At least Bug prepared us for this.

1 Month!

Alright, well this one is a little late, seeing as she's almost two months, but here she is at one month, complete with a little smile.  This baby has been pretty colicky, but she also has some periods where she's a very happy smiley little girl.  She's just precious and quite the eater.  She's got the rolls to prove it.  Her sister is quite in love with her and calls her "baby monkey bear."  No idea where that came from, but it's all kinds of cute.

Newborn Photos

We actually did Piper's newborn photos ourselves.  We could have had them professionally done.  You can do it for the bargain price of $250.  However, if you actually want to own the photos, it's an additional $300.  No thanks.  So, here's what we came up with.  She was very cooperative aside from the complete blowout all over my white blanket.  Note to self: use diapers next time.

Welcome Baby Piper!

We welcomed our second daughter, Piper Rose Johnson on October 17th, 2012 at 11:22 a.m.  She was 8 lbs, 21 inches long.
I had been having A LOT of contractions in the week before her birth, but was only dilated to a 4.  Due to the gestational diabetes, my doctor induced me on my due date.  We were to arrive at the hospital at 6:00 a.m.  Since we live an hour and a half away, we decided to stay the night in a hotel in town.  Bug had a sleep over at grandma's house, and we ended up in a room at the casino.  Unfortunately, we were too tired to "win" any money.  I was really anxious this time...maybe because I knew what was coming :)  I didn't really sleep at all that night because the contractions kept waking me up.
When we got to the hospital, we were shown to our room and lucky me...I got a student nurse.  Awesome.  I was very nice, but was not in the mood to deal with being poked several times.  The student tried to start an IV and literally bent the needle.  Ouch.  The nurse also missed the first time.  Finally, we got an IV, and got the pitocin running at about 7:00 a.m.  The doctor broke my water around 8:00.  By 10:00, I was only at 4 1/2 cm dilated, so I got the epidural.  Thank you Chuck. The epidural man.  My love.  At 11:00 a.m., I was fully dilated and ready to push.  I was VERY numb from the epidural, so Drew and the nurse had to hold my legs for me.  After 3 pushes, Piper arrived and was set on my chest and began nursing right away.  She's a natural.

Bug meeting the little monkey for the first time.

Our first day home and resting.

Piper's features look a lot like bug's, but she had dark hair!  I was not expecting that at all.
